Discover literature like never before! – Explore literary worlds, engage young minds and inspire lifelong readers.
Want Litcraft in your school? Read about how you can use Litcraft core & co-create to support your curriculum.
Litcraft enables an entirely new way of reading that moves across and between the text and its visual/spatial representation. Potentially changing reluctant readers into lifelong readers.

Litcraft literally brings the text to life in Minecraft. Now you can wander round Robinson Crusoe’s island imagining what it was like to be marooned there; have adventures on Treasure Island like Jim Hawkins; help Sherlock solve crimes and wander round the large build of Victorian London.

We have worked with partners around the country to make larger and smaller bespoke builds for unique museums and archives. If this is something you might be interested in then get in touch with us. If we can help you create something unique we will.
Litcraft is the most effective at re-engaging readers with texts when used in schools over half a term. Children read the book together or in class and then enter the Minecraft world to undertake focussed tasks that reinforce the narrative. Used across six weeks the resource really builds empathy and engagement in a powerful way.
We work with libraries and schools to bring Litcraft to as many children as we can. So far we’ve worked with Leeds and Lancashite libraries to take Litcraft into 24 rural libraries around the North West.
We took part in a major Late in the Library event at the British Library in October 2023 to test the Sherlock Holms build and we took Litcraft into 18 rural libraries around Cumberland and Westmorland over Easter and Summer 2025.

Minecraft is a procedurally generated open world game. As you move through it it builds around you. It was invented in 2011 by a Swede, Markus Perrson. Originally owned by Mojang, Minecraft was bought by Microsoft in 2014.
No. We want to be accessible to everyone so all our resources and booklets are free to download and use. However, in order to use them you DO need to purchase a Minecraft licence on your computer or iPad. This is a one-time purchase for life.
Just go to the links on our resource's website, click on them and follow any advice.

Litcraft was created in 2018 as part of a larger research project by Sally Bushell and James Butler. Apart from the large Sherlock Holmes and LSE builds we design and make all the builds and resources ourselves from scratch.
